Wilford Social play indie-folk music and have been described as a modern acoustic version of Fleetwood Mac.
The band is made up of Mark Wilkins, Bethie Hungerford, Carlos Basilisco and Andre Roese.
Mark’s musical background is in the rock and indie scene where he has played in guitar bands at London’s many live venues. Bethie is from the other side of the musical tracks where she trained as a classical singer specialising in Renaissance and Early Baroque music. Mark and Bethie found a middle ground in writing and playing acoustic, harmony-driven songs which draw from a shared love of the singer-songwriter tradition. The influences of James Taylor, Neil Young, the Beatles, through to Fleetwood Mac, the Civil Wars and the Head and the Heart can be heard in their lush vocal harmonies, strong melodies and sing-along choruses.
Andre and Carlos make up the rhythm section. Their backgrounds in Brazilian and Flamenco music influence the rhythms and grooves of the songs.
Wilford Social have played at venues across London such as the Bedford in Balham, and performed at Camp Bestival and Towersey Folk Festival where they will return this summer.
A debut album of original songs is on its way...
