Friday Night Live - Matt Belmont & DJ Ben Hauke

  • House of Tippler 123 Lordship Lane London, England, SE22 8HU United Kingdom (map)
Matt Belmont is an original music artist, songwriter and music producer based in London, UK. He has had his music featured on TV (including channel 4 show Hollyoaks) and Radio (BBC introducing), and has performed his music on some of the UK's biggest stages from Glastonbury Festival to Bingley Music Live and some of London's most famous venues including The Bedford and The Troubadour. His original EP 'Not Coming Down' charted in the top 100 of the iTunes album charts in it's release week also reaching the top 20 of the singer/songwriter charts. In 2012 Matt's cover of Bon Iver track Skinny Love earned him a place at number 51 in the Youtube most watched music videos charts with 40,000 views in its first few days of going online. He is currently concentrating on writing and producing his new original project 'BelleMont' as well as working as a cowriter and producer with some of the UK's most exciting new artists. Having most recently lent his no-nonsense production style to remixes for the likes of Far Out Recordings and Africa Seven, the Woop bossman’s latest EP samples everything from jazz drums and underground UK hip-hop, to an all-female juvenile detention centre choir, as well as live key board-playing from Ed Begley, a fellow member of South East’s burgeoning underground. The four-track EP of all original productions is Ben’s unique beatmaker’s perspective on dusty, jazzy club music, and his unorthodox approach to the four-to- the-floor vehicle has seen him likened to both Theo Parrish and Madlib respectively. With track titles and samples referencing his hometown of Lewisham, WOOP001 is an approving nod to Ben’s stomping-ground, and if you’ve ever been to Lewisham, you’ll understand the straight to the point, almost rude sound that runs throughout the release.
